‘Sammathayata Erehivu Minisek’
A Man, and his Voyage Upstream
Dr. Lester James Peiris is considered the pioneer who cleared the road of Sri Lankan Cinema especially as an art form and another great film director who followed his footsteps and later discovered new avenues in the political aspect of the field of film, is Dharmasena Pathiraja. He is the subject of this documentary and captures his life story, his political and artistic motivations  as they unravel through the documentary.
This was my maiden audio-visual exercise immediately following my course at OCIC. My study brought me face to face with giants in the film industry and Pathirajaâs contribution was what inspired me to dig into his film life. This incidentally is the first visual discussion on Dharmasena Pathiraja.
Conquest of the Despot
Alcohol, drugs and smoking are a menace to society and all taken together is projected as a despot that ruins life. This projection is used to convey the message that this despot needs to be conquered and eradicated.
The visual medium is considered a strong communication medium and was thus chosen as a tool to develop a teaching guide that could be used as a discussion-provoking programme for training rehabilitation instructors at ADIC (Alcohol Drug Information Center). The production was based on script that was chosen from an island wide competition.

‘Vilata Horen Pipuna Malak‘
The Flower Blooms, Unknown to the Pond
This was made for the Worldview International Foundation as part of their CBR (Community Based Rehabilitation) project in collaboration with the WHO. It discusses in a whole new way, the opportunities for children disabled by birth to be rehabilitated in the community itself, rather than being secluded in a sanatorium.
